2023 Season Was An Average Year For Arkansas State

Head Coach Butch Jones, of the Arkansas State

Red Wolves, finished the year with an overall

record of 6-7, and a conference record of 4-4.

They were average on offense with 27 points per

game, but very good on defense, with 30.38

points per game, which they were ranked 104th

in the country.

This team found ways to win games, though they

started off with a two game losing streak against

Oklahoma and Memphis. Then they would return

home to obtain their first win of the season.

Arkansas State only scored three points out of the first two weeks, but in game three got a win against

Stony Brook 31-7. The following week, the Red Wolves traveled to Massachusetts and beat UMass 52-28.

When they entered Sunbelt play, the inconsistency came entered for the Red Wolves too. Arkansas State

won the first two conference games against both Louisiana schools, Louisiana Monroe and the Ragin

Cajuns, but further along the season they had a loss against South Alabama followed by a win, the next

week, against Texas State. The following week they lose, on the road, against Marshall. Then they would

eventually play in the Camellia Bowl game against Northern Illinois and lose 19 to 21.

So, the key theme of this, Red Wolf, team is that they were a very average team. They didn't do anything

really spectacular this past season except, they just found a way to win games. So, if I really have to give

a grade to this team it'll be a solid C.
